The summer after my freshman year of college (1990, for those keeping score) found me living in a run down motel on the strip in Myrtle Beach, SC and needing a short-term job within walking distance. So I hit the nearby mall and applied at several places in the food court. First, the happy ending: I got the job at Chick-fil-a. If you are going to have to eat the same fast food every day for a couple months, it might as well be Chick-fil-a. Along the way, however, I applied for a job at Burger King. And the application asked me why I wanted to work there. I answered ”food, folks, and fun”. I did not receive an offer of employment.
Since joining Viewzi, I’ve had numerous friends ask me how it is going, and when I answer, I can’t help but think (though I generally keep it to myself these days), “food, folks, and fun”.
Think of your job as a road trip. There are really two critical things: where you are going, and what the trip itself is like.
I love where Viewzi is going. Viewzi is a bunch of great ideas brought together in a unified, coherent package. Viewzi brings together the right data sources with the right presentation. It’s an open platform, allowing different solutions to the same problem for different groups of people. It’s customizable, so your search experience doesn’t have to be the same as mine.
But no matter how great the destination, if the trip is misery, it tends to detract from the happy memories. Picture the perfect road trip, and now add one detail: the guy sitting next to you in the car (for 14 straight hours) ate too many beans for lunch.
Viewzi has a great team working together on a great product, and yes, Dawn really is the corporate chef. It’s a road trip with a great destination, but also some wonderful memories along the way. Food, folks, and fun.

The lady singing that song reminds me of the mom from the TV show Sister, Sister. Oh how I hated that show.
Almost as much as I hate McDonald’s food.

So, um… you *did* know which restaurant was which at the time, right? This sounds like a Jay joke, but you don’t usually let them get in the way of employment.

Jay love your company. I believe you helped my wife and I while at Fry’s Electronics. We were looking for a camera and you were gracious enough to help guide us in making a wise decision even though you were just killing time looking at cameras. If this is not you, my apologies. If it is, thanks for your help and wish you the best with your Viewzi.

Dwight, that’s me! I was glad to be of service and enjoyed meeting your family. I ended up buying a Canon Vixia HF-100 camcorder, so I’ve yet to move on the camera.
