Fall is upon us, and so is a new Viewzi.

Boy, time flies. We haven’t pushed a major release in about 4 months (including views). Why? I’ll spare you the excuses but we’ve been really busy on just about every front.

View Information

Just above each view there is a more info link that displays an extended description (and help, coming soon), view credits, and data sources.

View information

The magic behind Viewzi is the views, and the Views are nothing without the talented developers, designers, and data providers that make them up. As we grow and get more views, attribution and authorship will become more important. Up until now, each view has only display one main “author” in the information bar. However, none of views really only have one person working on them. In most cases it’s one more designers paired up with a flash or web developer. We also didn’t want to lose site of the the non-delivery contributers to a view and give them credit for their expertise.

Favorite & Default Views

One of the core principles behind Viewzi is having search your way, even if it means only using a few of our views and skipping the view mix experience all together.

Feedback from our beta release told us that some Viewzers really like a few (or one) view(s) and what a faster way to get to them. So we listened. Just above each view is an Add To Favorites button. Simply click that button to mark a view as your favorite.

Favorite views can be accessed directly form a shortcut menu that’s next to the search button. Now you can directly search your favorite views by typing in your search term, opening the menu, and clicking on your favorite view.

Your favorite views also are marked in the view mix with a green flag. At the bottom of the view mix there is a switch that will filter the view mix down to just your favorite views that came back in the mix.

Taking the favorite view concept even further, you can also customize your Viewzi experience to always default to one favorite view of your choice. This means that buy default, typing in a search term and hitting the search button (or enter key) you will completely bypass the view mix experience. This behavior also applies if you are using Viewzi from your browser search bar. The beauty of this is that even though your are skipping the view mix, you can still hop around to other views with the ‘mini-mix’ that sits above the view.

To set a default view, click the more info link, then navigate to the favorites tab in the information popup. Then just check the default checkbox. You can un-set this by coming back to the view (and later from your profile).

View Ratings

In an effort to further tailor your Viewzi experience, we’ve added view ratings. Our goal is to have you, the Viewzer, tell us what views you like and don’t like.

Ratings menu

Click on more info and then ratings to see comments and ratings from other Viewzers, as well as overall sentiment of the view. Over time we’ll be able to adapt the view mix experience to you preferences and recommend views that you might like.

What are you waiting for, give the new Viewzi a spin!
